Week 18 - Growth Mindset
The focus this week is the same as last. We will be working on smart, efficient hockey. That applies everywhere on the ice. Knowing when and how to attack is...
We had tough competition this past weekend. Their defense was solid and they played a very disciplined game. They capitalized on their chances and we left several goals on the ice. The good news is that our defensive zone structure was quite a bit better and our passing is improving, though we still need to work on harder passes. The bad news is that we have to figure out how to score.
This week, we are putting an emphasis on creating scoring chances. To re-enforce that, we will have a competition. I will be recording the practices and reviewing them. The top 3 players that contribute the most to scoring chance generation (and success) will get a prize. The prize is hockey related, and not overly expensive, but will provide a bit of an incentive to push harder. I will figure out a way to incorporate the goalies into this as well.
NOTE: I said “contribute”. This will not automatically go to the goal scorer(s). This is about who is doing the work to create the opportunities. That can take many forms, so be creative. If you have questions, ask me at practice.
See everyone on the ice!
