Week 22 - Forechecking to Success
The weekend turned out to be solid preparation for this coming weekend. While the 12U B game had some sloppiness and breakdowns, we still had a good game. We missed a lot of chances, a lot of posts, and that game could have been more controlled than it was. There were also defensive chances given away that are uncharacteristic mistakes. However, we learned and survived for a win.
After a good practice Saturday night with the Girls 14U AAA team, we got to play them on Sunday morning. You guys experienced a team that is a Tier I national-bound AAA team. They may have been missing a few players, but the consensus was that we should have lost that game. We played a great forechecking game, backchecked better than we've seen all season, and gave up few high-threat chances. We also capitalized on opportunities. We've been on the other side of those frustrating games. We are starting to get an understanding of how to play in a way that is frustrating to our opponents.
Let's carry that growth into practice this week and the San Jose tournament this coming long weekend. Be ready to work hard and play even harder.
See you on the ice!
