Week 19 - Towards the California Style
The tournament this past weekend was all about pushing the team beyond their limits. You guys did an amazing job of maintaining composure and sticking to the plan despite some incredible teams. As I said, this is all about growth and learning. The coaches are trying to build your hockey tools to cope with what next year brings for you.
We saw small successes and a nice win against a higher rated team. We also got to see a few deficiencies that caused us issues. The takeaway is that our next path forward is trying to mimic some of the California style into our own game.
We will be focusing the next couple weeks on a harder and more productive forecheck. We will also spend some time working on cycling a couple neutral-zone strategies. After a couple productive practices, we will see how we have evolved by playing Tacoma for the next set of league games.
Remember, we are working towards another California tournament in February and the State Tournament in March. So, come ready to work hard and learn.
